DVD – Paul Simon Concert in the Park – can’t buy it?

Exactly 20 years ago Paul Simon held his biggest concert ever on the big lawn in New York city. A few hundredthousand people visited that show. Paul Simon himself said in a recent interview when he was asked about the highlight of his career: The solo central park concert. The concert was broadcasted worldwide on TV, millions of people watched it. A double CD has been released and also a VHS tape. Now fans are waiting since 10 years for a DVD release of that special concert. Thousands of people still have to keep their VHS player and play a 20 year old tape – nearly unwatchable now. On ebay and amazon you see greed people selling new tapes for 150 USD or more. We want to stop that. WE WANT A DVD and a BLUE RAY of that concert. Join our campaign for a release!

We believe it is all about money, thats why we can not get that concert. During the late 1980s, Pioneer signed contracts with major music artists, such as Madonna, Janet Jackson, (and Paul Simon?) and others, to release their concerts on Laserdisc only through Pioneer. To this date, the contracts are still standing, and the concerts have not been re-released on DVD by Pioneer or others. An exception is the Genesis Laserdisc of “The Way We Walk”, which was released to DVD in October 2002, under the Pioneer label. We want an exception for the Central Park 1991 concert too!

Please Paul Simon: Understand that you maybe have signed a bad contract in that time, give it free or buy it back. It wont hurt you. Please Pioneer: Get back on the table with Paul Simons management and release that title: FOR the music, and not always and only for MONEY. We will buy this video from you. Release it on BlueRay. We are old fans, we are not downloading those things on the internet for free.
